Church Choir

"Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious." (Psalm 66:1-2)

 

The Ebenezer Bible-Presbyterian Church choir is committed to contributing to the work of the Church. A professional choir by no means, our primary aim is not to entertain but to minister – firstly to the LORD, secondly to the People of God and finally to minister to the World - through our music.

It was initially formed under the expertise of Mrs Patricia Vandermay (wife of American minister Pastor Bob Vandermay) during her first visit to Ebenezer BPC. In addition, God sent Mrs Nancy Anderson (wife of American minister Pastor Bob Anderson) early in 2005 to further build up our talents. Currently, the choir is led by Rachel Soon, together with the support and musical ability of two accompanists – Hannah Chia and Carol Raw.

We have performed on numerous occasions during our Lord's Day Worship – as the LORD tells us in Colossians 3:16b to teach and admonish "one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the LORD." Special occasions often stir up extra excitement and enthusiasm within our choir and the choir frequently presents items at Easter services, Christmas services (including a Christmas Cantata), anniversaries and even a wedding.

We readily welcome any new member who would like to "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD". Regardless of whether or not the noise you produce is awful or delightful, if it is sung with the right heart you can be assured that it will certainly be joyful to God! Rehearsals are scheduled on Sundays following the regular Bible study.

Many thanks must be expressed to Mrs Vandermay and Mrs Anderson for all their effort, encouragement and training over the years. Truly, their time has been most valuable. God willing, we look forward to more frequent visits from both of them to further develop our choir.

Philippines 1:6b saith, "…he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
